Belts

A belt is a flexible band or strap, typically made of leather, plastic, or heavy cloth, worn around the natural waist or hips. It serves both practical and aesthetic purposes: Function: holds up clothing (trousers, skirts, shorts) via friction and compression, carries tools or weapons, or provides safety (seat belt, lifting belt). Aesthetics: defines or accentuates the waist, adds color or texture to an outfit, and signals rank or achievement (martial arts colored belts, championship belts). Construction: most belts use a buckle with perforations or notches (typically 5 holes) to secure one end to another; others use a pin, automatic closure, or knot. Width & material: range from narrow dress belts (~35 mm) to wide utility or tool belts; materials span full-grain leather, woven fabric, rubber, G-Flex, and exotic skins. Belts are one of the oldest accessories, with origins tracing back thousands of years, and remain a staple of virtually every wardrobe.
